"We had a great day with Aoub. He was both personable and professional. The day he organised for us flowed smoothly and we very much enjoyed his knowledge and insights about his city, religion and lifestyle of the people of Casablanca. Our visit to the Hasan II Mosque was a real highlight and we learned so much about how and why it was constructed. A unique experience that is a 'must' for any visitor to Casablanca. We spent time walking through the city and Ayoub explained many features of the architecture. We had the unique experience of the local fish market where we chose a fish and calamari from a stall there and took it to a nearby restaurant where they cooked it for us. It doesn't come any fresher or more tasty than that.
A hidden gem was a visit to the Christian church, Our Lady of Lourdes (Notre Dame de Lourdes de Casablanca). This church has a grotto modelled on the one in Lourdes, which was very interesting. However the church's interior is spectacular with both sides completely covered in stained glass depicting bible stories. Having seen the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona before beginning our cruise, it reminded us of the stunning walls of stained glass there.
